You won’t believe what Senate Republicans just did
Just a few days ago, I wrote to you about the alarming situation in Alabama, where all in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures have been thrown into doubt due to a recent court ruling handed down by Alabama's right-wing extremist Supreme Court.
I'm reaching out again because last week, Senate Republicans blocked an effort by Democrats to pass legislation that would have protected IVF nationwide. In the wake of the Alabama ruling, my Republican colleagues spent days claiming to support access to IVF. Their actions say otherwise.
Right-wing Republicans made this ruling possible when they gutted Roe v. Wade. And now, the party that claims to be the party of "family values" is denying an entire generation of women in Alabama the chance to become mothers through IVF.
The right to start a family is a deeply personal decision that should be made between parents without government interference. But it's clear that Republican extremists won't rest until there's a politician in every bedroom and exam room in America.
Republicans will stop at nothing to rip away Americans' fundamental rights and freedoms. We have to fight back, and that means expanding our Senate majority and retaking the House so there's no chance of Republicans jamming through their right-wing agenda. But I can't do it alone.
