Tell the U.S. Copyright Office: If we buy it, we should own it!

It’s almost hard to believe, but some major corporations are making the case that when you buy their products, you don’t actually own them.

They’re making their case to the U.S. Copyright Office, and a decision will be made soon that will affect consumers everywhere. We have to get ahead of them.

A few quick examples: John Deere is making the case that farmers who buy their tractors own some parts, but not others. General Motors is arguing the same about their vehicles.

It’s ridiculous, and we aren’t going to stand for it. Add your name and tell the U.S. Copyright Office: We own what we buy!

To David Mao, the acting Librarian of Congress:

Big corporate interests are using the U.S. Copyright Office in the Library of Congress to rewrite the rules of ownership. If they win, consumers lose.

We’re asking you to send a clear message that when consumers buy something, they own it – plain and simple!
