Voting and Elections
Securing America's Elections
Ron has fought tirelessly to sound the alarm on the need to secure America’s elections from hacking and foreign interference. Since the 2016 election, Ron has pushed for the passage of his Protecting American Votes and Elections (PAVE) Act, which would mandate the use of hand-marked paper ballots, and risk-limiting audits for all federal elections. These are two significant steps that election security experts agree are vital for securing America’s elections.
Fighting Voter Suppression and Safeguarding the Right to Vote for All
In 2017, Ron introduced comprehensive legislation to expand Oregon-style Vote-by-Mail nationwide. Oregon is 1 of only 4 states in the U.S. using a Vote-by-Mail system, which has helped to increase voter participation rates and expanded access to voting for the disabled and seniors across the state.
Ron believes that the right -- and the duty -- to vote belongs to every American. He will continue fighting against all voter suppression efforts, and for the passage of legislation through Congress that will make it easier and more convenient for all Americans to cast their ballot.
