Trump, keep your hands off our mail!
The hits keep coming.
Donald Trump – fresh off his efforts to dismantle USAID, the Department of Education, the Department of Labor, and the CFPB (among others) – has his sights on a new target: the U.S. Postal Service.

He's moving to consolidate the Postal Service into the Commerce Department in order to give him more direct control over your mail.
If anything, this is a blatant power grab to assert more control over the American people and our way of life, which we know is the ultimate goal of the Republican Party.
This will be a gut punch to folks in rural areas who rely on the mail for essential services. It could also impact seniors or anyone who gets their medications by mail. It will also have massive implications for women who receive abortion medications like mifepristone through the mail. We should not underestimate the Trump administration's desire to slow down or block the delivery of these medications by mail to states like Oregon where the right to choose remains legal.
And let's not forget the fiasco in 2020 when, during his run for President, Trump weaponized the Postal Service to delay mail-in voting to try to steal the election.
Like most of his actions for the past month, Trump's attempt to downsize the Postal Service will ultimately lead to higher costs and give Republicans more power over your life. I will support every possible effort to fight it in court, and I will pressure all of my colleagues in the Senate to exert pressure to make the administration back down.
In the meantime, I encourage everyone to raise their voices, call their representatives, and make it clear that we don't want Donald Trump's hands on our mail.
More soon,
Ron
