In America, we don’t submit to those who call themselves “king”

I'm a fan of liberty and freedom, and checks and balances – not kings. But it seems the current White House thinks differently. Look at its recent post crowing "LONG LIVE THE KING" right after Trump tried to unlawfully assert his authority over a state program he didn't like.

Graphic with Trump and

There's no doubt that Trump thinks he's got the powers of a monarch – and that he looks up to those who act like complete autocrats. Look at how he's run roughshod over Congress to freeze funding for programs that help millions of Americans, how he's opened the doors of our government to robber baron billionaires who want to exploit personal and financial information, or how he's made sickening apologies for Vladimir Putin's brutal invasion of Ukraine.

Throughout the campaign, I warned of the consequences of re-electing an unfettered, unrestrained Trump. For the last month, we have been suffering those consequences – in our country's economic outlook, on the world stage, and in the fraying constitutional boundaries meant to protect the American people from despotic rule.

Know this: I refuse to give up the fight, and I know the American people aren't about to suddenly submit to someone who calls himself "king."

I will continue to shine a light on this administration's abuses of power. I'll work to make sure Republicans in Congress take public heat for refusing to do their constitutional duties. And I'll keep advocating for policies that will actually make progress when it comes to the cost of living and preservation of freedom.

Onward,

Ron
