An authoritarian takeover

Over the weekend, Elon Musk and Donald Trump seized control of the highly-sensitive payment system at the Treasury Department.

This means they have access to Social Security and Medicare payments, the money owed to government workers, and much more.

This is an authoritarian takeover of our government.

Needless to say, I am terrified at the prospect of an unelected, Nazi-saluting billionaire having access to the most sensitive inner workings of our federal government.

Just hours ago I was in front of the Treasury Department to send the message loud and clear to Elon Musk: get your hands off our money, and get the hell out.

Normally when a bank gets robbed, the thieves have to forcefully break in. But imagine if the bank manager – of their own free will – happily handed the thieves the keys to the vault.

That’s the best way to describe what is happening right now. Elon Musk wants to rip away Americans’ hard-earned benefits and raid the government’s coffers to help himself. And the Trump administration just let him walk in and take our most sensitive and private information.

This is illegal. It’s an issue of national security and economic stability. And it needs to stop now.

Musk’s access must immediately be revoked, and the American people need fast answers from Secretary Bessent on why he let this happen and what damage has already been done.
