Kneecapping the American people

Last night, Trump took the most drastic step yet in his second term to screw over hard-working people. He put a sweeping freeze on federal grants and loans.

If fully implemented, this freeze would endanger programs that put food on people's tables, fund early childhood education programs, and provide healthcare (I'm alarmed that Medicaid portals were down across the country today). It would kneecap nonprofits that offer essential services from housing assistance to nutrition. It would grind life-saving medical research to a halt. And it would severely hurt state and local governments – whose budgets rely in part upon federal grants.

Donald Trump wants to make life in America harder and costlier. He's willing to throw our economy into chaos and shut down the support systems that so many depend on. All because he'd rather raid the government's coffers for himself and his billionaire buddies.

I will do everything I can from the Senate to hold him accountable, stop the executive nominees who would carry out his destructive agenda, and make sure the American people understand exactly how they're being robbed.
