Trump’s putting his money where his mouth is:
Donald Trump continues to remind us of just how little he thinks of freedom, democracy, and the peaceful transfer of power.
Earlier this month, his New Jersey golf club came close to hosting a fundraiser – called by organizers the J6 Awards Gala – to cover the legal fees of the violent insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol and tried to overturn a fair election on January 6, 2021.
This event wound up being "indefinitely delayed" (no doubt because of the uproar it was causing), but the fact Trump was happy to host it speaks volumes. He even doubled down on his refusal to concede the 2020 election during this month's debate.
What happened on January 6 was a direct affront to the values and ideas enshrined in our constitution, and it was directly caused by Donald Trump's coddling and encouragement of anti-democratic extremism.
Trump remains his party's undisputed leader, and under him, the GOP will continue to make excuses for January 6 and defend the very people who came mere yards away from causing unspeakable damage to our country.
So, we need to send a message back to Trump and the Republicans: coddling insurrectionists won't help you rig the results, and it won't help you get votes come November.
I'm doing my part to elect a Democratic House and Senate that will promote freedom and reject dangerous MAGA extremism. Will you join me and pitch in $9 to help us close strong by November 5?
Let's do this,
Ron
