National Voter Registration Day

Voting is the heart of our democracy, and it is the most powerful tool we have for ensuring continued progress and upholding the core ideals of our nation's founders.

Today – on National Voter Registration Day – I want to encourage everyone to check whether their voter registration is up to date. Registration deadlines are right around the corner (Oregon's is October 15, less than a month away!) and people shouldn't wait until the last minute to get registered.

I'm proud of the standard Oregon has helped set for universal vote-by-mail elections. I'm working hard to make sure all Americans have the voting accessibility that we are lucky to have here in my home state.

But to make those changes, we need to make our voices heard this year – to elect a Congress that's willing and ready to protect access to the ballot box for every American.

So I hope that you take the chance to make your voice heard in this year's historic election that will set the course for our country's future.
