Time to flip this around
We've all seen the polls. We're less than a year away from the 2024 elections, and it's clear that the presidential election is going to come down to the wire.
Because of the unique threat posed by Donald Trump to our democracy, the prospect of another razor-thin election is terrifying. Trump has recently doubled down on hateful and authoritarian rhetoric — saying "be a dictator on day one," repeatedly quoting Adolf Hitler to demonize immigrants, promising to purge the federal government of longtime civil servants and install MAGA cronies everywhere, and unapologetically defending his actions leading up to January 6.
But we refuse to be paralyzed by fear. If anything, we're more motivated than ever to defend our progress, champion the policies that Ron and Democrats have helped advance, and fight for a Congress that can pass even more transformative legislation.
Democrats have shown what responsible leadership looks like. We've created millions of jobs, lowered drug prices, and made historic investments in clean energy. It's a sharp contrast to the MAGA policies Trump pursued — like trying to rip health care away from millions of Americans or giving tax breaks to their billionaire donors.
We know there's more work to be done, and we're not about to let Donald Trump turn back the clock and remove the guardrails that protect our democracy.
We must take every possible measure to counter Trump's dangerous influence on our politics. That means defending our values and policy record at every turn, running on the legislation we will pass under a new Democratic trifecta (lowering health care costs, a fairer tax code, and a restoration of Roe v. Wade), and being unafraid to call Trump's rhetoric out for exactly what it is.
