We can’t afford to wait for the GOP to pull their heads out of the sand.
I just spent the last month traveling around Oregon. In every county I visited, I heard from residents, small business owners, state and local officials, and more about how extreme weather, droughts, and wildfires are hitting our communities hard.
The climate crisis isn't some distant threat. It's here, and folks across our state are already dealing with the consequences.
Last year, Democrats passed the largest investment in clean energy in our nation's history. The Inflation Reduction Act is a huge victory in the fight to act on climate, and I'm proud of the role I played to get it across the finish line.
But there's always more work to do. Continuing investment in clean energy solutions, lowering carbon emissions, and holding Big Oil accountable for its role in the climate emergency remain at the top of my priority list.
The battle against the climate crisis is the fight of our generation. We've seen what we can get done with a razor-thin Democratic majority in the Senate, but we need to do more.
Despite the overwhelming evidence of the consequences of the climate emergency, the GOP continues to be driven by campaign donations from Big Oil and wealthy executives. I'm tired of their excuses, and I know you are, too.
The truth is that MAGA Republicans have cozied up to powerful fossil fuel companies. Greed – not science – is what drives their climate agenda.
We can't afford to wait for MAGA Republicans to pull their heads out of the sand.
More soon,
Ron
