We know how this ends

Over the last few months, we've watched as the farthest of the far right ram their most dangerous and extreme policy ideas through red state legislatures nationwide.

From conservatives going after abortion medication, to school boards banning and censoring books, to Republican legislatures introducing bills targeting trans children, to lawmakers purposefully making it harder to vote – and everything in between – far-right conservatives are doing everything in their power to force their extremist values on the American people.

Some of the most concerning players are the current front runners for the Republican presidential nomination: Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis.

With these two leading the pack, there's no way around it: Republicans across the country are embracing the most policies and ideas to undermine our democracy and turn back the clock on progress.

Now is the time to stand up and defend our country from the far-right's undemocratic takeover of our institutions. But this requires an all-hands-on-deck response. Will you donate now to help fuel the movement to elect leaders who will protect our democracy – not undermine it?

Both Trump and DeSantis have shown disdain for the democratic process, preferring to dictate their dangerous agendas and attack anyone who disagrees. Republican party leadership has not only tolerated them, but welcomed them with open arms.

It might seem early to be talking about presidential elections. But this is about more than one election. It's about the future of our country.

I worry that our history is repeating its worst episodes, as a major political party is willing to throw away democratic principles and vilify our own citizens in pursuit of power.

Here's the good news: In the last election, this movement pushed them back.

But democracy is not something to be won in a single election. We must continue to work for it by showing up again and again for every election—chip in now to be part of the growing movement for democracy and against Republican extremism.
