Another terrible, awful decision by the Supreme Court
The first word that comes to my mind regarding the Supreme Court these days:
Dangerous.
Just weeks ago, the extremist right-wing Republicans on the highest court of the land ripped away Americans' right to make their own health care decisions, and now they're attacking the very air we breathe.
In one of its most recent rulings, the Supreme Court sided with giant polluters to limit the federal government's ability to tackle the climate crisis and regulate clean air.
It's a disastrous decision that will have serious environmental and public health consequences for generations to come.
The Republican extremists on the Supreme Court are doing everything in their power to prevent meaningful efforts to combat the climate crisis and protect corporate polluters.
Congress needs to step up and right this wrong.
That's why I'm pushing to end tax breaks for Big Oil, lower energy costs for families, reduce carbon emissions, and combat the climate crisis.
Justice Kagan reminded us all what's at stake in her dissent:
"The Court appoints itself — instead of Congress or the expert agency — the decision maker on climate policy. I cannot think of many things more frightening."
It is frightening. With the Supreme Court acting as a highly-politicized super-legislator, we need Congress to step in and take meaningful action to keep our air clean and combat climate change.
I'm fighting to make it happen. There is no time to waste.
