Republicans just voted to criminalize abortion
Earlier today, I proudly voted 'yes' on legislation to codify Roe v. Wade and protect the abortion rights of all Americans.
Republicans blocked it.
Every single Republican in the Senate voted no, effectively voting to criminalize abortion.
Mitch McConnell has already promised that if Republicans seize a Senate majority in November, they're going to attempt to criminalize abortion in all 50 states.
That means our next fight will be at the ballot box. We've got to elect a decisive pro-choice Democratic majority to Congress.
The right to an abortion in Roe is about Americans' fundamental right to privacy, the right to make decisions about your own body. And we know conservatives won't stop at criminalizing abortion. If Republicans succeed in overturning Roe, they've already indicated they're ready to go after the right to contraception, the right to marry who you love – your fundamental right to live your life without government intrusion.
Today's vote can feel like a setback, I know. But together, we can make today go down in history as the day Americans decided to throw anti-choice extremists out of Congress once and for all.
Let's do it. Chip in now to fuel the movement for a pro-choice Congress.
