President Biden’s Supreme Court nominee
President Joe Biden has made his first Supreme Court nomination. Ketanji Brown Jackson has served more than a decade on the federal bench and has a distinguished record as a federal public defender. She is eminently qualified to serve on the Supreme Court.
Her nomination is historic and well-deserved, and I look forward to confirming her to the Court.
In the Senate, we have a responsibility to move her nomination along quickly. After all, we know that Mitch McConnell will try every tactic in the book to delay voting on the nomination until after the November election — remember the Machiavellian tactics he used in preventing President Obama from appointing Merrick Garland?
I'll do my part in the Senate to move Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson's nomination along quickly, but this is yet another reminder of why it has never been more critical for Democrats to protect and expand our majority in the Senate.
