We can't let the filibuster stand in the way of progress
For decades, right-wing extremists in state legislatures have passed cruel, unworkable, unconstitutional restrictions in an attempt to roll back or destroy access to critical reproductive care.
With Wednesday's decision by the Supreme Court to allow Texas's draconian anti-choice law to stand, the Court made clear that Republicans' efforts to stack the courts and attack reproductive freedom have succeeded.
For years, Republican lawmakers have stacked our nation's courts with right-wing judges and justices to do their dirty work for them, by enacting policy they know isn't supported by a majority of Americans.
This is a war on safe and legal abortion, which will disproportionately hurt low-income families and communities of color for generations to come. This is a social justice issue, but it's also an economic one.
There is too much at stake for the future of women and families in our country. The right to safe and legal abortion must be codified into law, and we cannot let the filibuster stand in the way of that.
