Let’s have Patty’s back, like she’s had ours
Let's cut to the chase: Patty Murray, my friend and colleague who represents Oregon's neighbor to the north, is up for re-election next year.
After the hardest-fought election in our lifetime, our progressive movement eked out a narrow, 50-50 tie in the U.S. Senate. All that stands between more obstruction and strong, progressive legislation is a grassroots movement that can hold the line against the coming Republican attacks.
Because our opponents are absolutely going to be working as hard as they can to defeat Patty and other Democrats across the country.
Patty is a staunch defender of women's health care and reproductive rights, and fights tirelessly each day to level the playing field for working families in her home state of Washington, and nationwide. I have seen her commitment and passion for public service firsthand serving alongside her in the Senate.
With the Senate majority, Democrats have already accomplished so much to help Americans survive this crisis. The American Rescue Plan and ongoing efforts to rebuild our economy as we come out of the pandemic are just the beginning. Imagine what we can do with a stronger, more progressive majority.
... and imagine what happens if we lose the narrow majority we already have next year, and if Mitch McConnell returns as Majority Leader.
