The effects of a split Senate, in real time:
We worked hard over the past four years to take back the House, then the White House, and then – by the thinnest possible margin – the Senate.
Now, at last, we're poised to do great things for working families: contain the COVID pandemic, kickstart our economy, expand access to health care, take on the climate crisis, and combat systemic racism and white supremacy.
But if we want to make lasting progress, we need to expand our Senate majority, and we've got a golden opportunity to do it. Earlier this week, Senator Rob Portman of Ohio announced that he wasn't going to seek reelection.
Right now, we're seeing the effects of a split Senate in real time. Mitch McConnell is exploiting every loophole, bending every rule, and breaking every norm to keep us from making any progress.
The lesson is clear: 50/50 isn't enough. If we want a Senate that answers to working families, not lobbyists and special interests, we've got to win every possible seat in the next election. That work starts now.
That's not going to be easy, but our grassroots movement has gotten us this far and we're just getting warmed up.
Chip in $7 now to fuel the fight to take back Ohio!
Let do this,
