My plan to keep Americans safe:

We are in the middle of a global health pandemic, and so far, Donald Trump's attitude seems to be "never let a crisis go to waste."

Trump's priority isn't keeping Americans safe. It's using a public health crisis to try and bail out his oil tycoon buddies and his own hotels.

Here's the good news: Democrats have strong, comprehensive plans to help keep Americans safe. Here are a few of the plans I've rolled out this week that I'll be pushing for in the coming weeks and months:

• Making sure hourly and part-time workers have paid sick leave if they or their loved ones become sick.
• Creating a strong safety net for Americans who might lose work due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
• Fighting Donald Trump's attempts to raid your Social Security to benefit corporate America.
• Additional funding to states nationwide to help them implement Oregon-style vote-by-mail through November so Americans can exercise their right to vote while staying healthy.

This isn't a time to debate how we're going to help corporate America and its CEOs when their stock prices drop.

To me, it's simple: our top priority should be keeping Americans, their families, and our democracy safe.

This isn't about politics. This isn't a Democratic issue or a Republican issue. This is about our country and who we are as a people.
