This year, make sure seniors are taken care of

Last year, on Giving Tuesday, I asked folks to give to Meals on Wheels. At the time, I noted that almost 9 million seniors in America face the threat of hunger.

This year, we're approaching 10 million.

That's why this year, for Giving Tuesday, I'm asking you to join me in supporting Meals on Wheels People. Your gift, no matter the size, will ensure seniors in America are well-nourished.

Meals on Wheels People is a terrific example of a community-based startup that recognized a problem and provided a solution.

What began as a humble grassroots program to deliver food to isolated seniors has grown into a major public-private partnership. Today, 2 million volunteers deliver meals to seniors facing the threat of hunger in almost every community in America. I know firsthand from helping volunteers deliver meals at home in Oregon how essential this work is.

Unfortunately, Meals on Wheels People is underfunded. Eight out of 10 low income food-insecure seniors are not receiving the home-delivered meals they need.
