Alabama today. Roe v. Wade tomorrow
Throughout our country's history, there have always been people looking to control women's bodies. Women's voices. Women's freedom to live happy, healthy lives.
This week was no different. Alabama just passed one of the most extreme anti-abortion laws our country has ever seen.
Under this law, women who need access to these critical health services will be denied.
Doctors who provide abortions face life in prison.
Victims of rape or incest will not be able to seek medical help for the crimes against them.
The people behind this medieval law are trying to force a legal battle in our nation's courts over the issue of a woman's right to choose. Republican lawmakers are hoping Donald Trump's conservative appointees will lead the way to overturning Roe v. Wade.
The people behind this law, and those like it in other states, have zero concern for what it means for the health and safety of women across America if they get their way.
Here's the bottom line: laws like this will not stop abortions from happening. These laws will force women to seek out dangerous alternatives instead.
This is an outrage. Like you, I'm furious. And I'm going to do everything I can to fight this.
