The Swamp's ruling class
Last week, Trump hosted the swamp's ruling class at the Trump International Hotel in Washington. Of all the lies Donald Trump told during his campaign and his presidency, one of the most laughable was his claim that he wanted to "drain the swamp" in Washington.
Trump has courted lobbyists, industry insiders, and super-rich GOP donors to power his campaign. In reality, the Trump administration has been the most intertwined with special interests and industry insiders of any in our history.
Trump's donors have pledged to do whatever they can to elect him in 2020 and deliver him a Republican-controlled Congress.
Here's the bottom line: in just the first three months of 2019, the Trump campaign raised more than $30 million. The Republican National Committee raised $45 million.
The GOP fundraising machine is all-in for Trump, and it's working harder than we've ever seen to keep him in power.
