Authoritarianism devours everything in its path
Yesterday, Donald Trump asserted executive privilege over the contents of the Mueller Report – denying Congress its constitutional duty to review evidence of executive crimes.
For the time being, let's put aside the twisted logic Trump wants us to believe – that he wants to hide the evidence of his obstruction, but not because he's guilty.
The bigger, and much more damaging issue here is Trump's callous disregard for the simple premise that he's got to follow the law.
From the moment he announced his candidacy, Trump has shown that he's more interested in being an emperor: answering not to the people of this country, but to his own whims.
And at every step of the way – from his daily attacks on the press to his demands for loyalty from government officials to his gripes about any sort of oversight – Congressional Republicans have cooperated and encouraged him.
We're building a nationwide movement, because we must take back the Senate. Contribute now to keep up our momentum.
Congressional Republicans have abandoned any effort to stop Trump's attacks on our democracy. It's up to us. Chip in now to fuel the fight for the rule of law.
