Tell Mitch McConnell, "Do your job!"
As Senate majority leader, it's Mitch McConnell's job to decide what bills make it to the Senate floor for consideration. That means if he doesn't like an idea – no matter how many people support it – it'll never see the light of day.
And right now, Mitch McConnell doesn't like the idea of ending the government shutdown.
So, despite the fact that the House has passed bills to reopen the government, and despite the fact that those bills had bipartisan support in the Senate before, McConnell refuses to even bring them up for debate.
Sign my petition: Tell Mitch McConnell, "Do your job! Let the Senate vote!"
Consider that for a second: Mitch McConnell doesn't even want Senators to talk about ways to end the shutdown.
He knows that if the Senate can debate a bill, the Senate can pass a bill. And if the Senate passes a bill and sends it to the White House, Donald Trump will be mad.
So rather than standing up to Trump, McConnell is following his orders and refusing to let the Senate get to work solving the problems Trump created.
That's not leadership. It's not checks and balances. It's not working on behalf of the American people.
It's negligence. And subservience. And cowardice.
And our country deserves better.
Add your name to tell Mitch McConnell to stop being Trump's puppet, and bring a bill to the floor!
