America deserves better. Together, we'll fix this.
Yesterday, Donald Trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh to take Justice Kennedy's place on the Supreme Court.
It can be hard to imagine Trump stepping up his attacks on American values and norms any further, but let me assure you: with Kavanaugh on the bench, all of our values are up for grabs, from women's right to choose, the right of same-sex couples to marry, or the very right to due process in our court system.
Even the rule of law itself is on shaky ground; Kavanaugh believes that presidents are immune from criminal prosecution. His nomination is just the next step in Trump's shameless effort to place himself above the law.
We deserve a Supreme Court that holds to its original mission, that protects and works for us, not for the big corporations and special interests that dominate Trump's government – and definitely not for Trump himself.
America deserves better, and we have one shot to fix this: taking back Congress in November.
