Thank you -- my 900th town hall!
Yesterday in Eugene, I held my 900th town hall as a Senator.
Since joining the Senate, I’ve held town halls in every corner of the state, in all 36 counties, and in dozens of cities and towns.
But really, I don’t think about the numbers. I think about the faces.
I think about the faces of Oregonians who come to town halls to learn what’s happening in Washington, to ask me to support issues important to their community, and to tell me what I should be paying attention to.
I think about the faces of Oregonians who come to town halls to stand up with their neighbors, to fight for their families, to demand action - or a lighter hand - in Washington, DC.
Oregonians who come to urge me to do more. Oregonians who come to say thank you.
And as I reflect on 900 town halls – some rowdy, some emotional, some full of love, laughter, and spirited debate – I think about how fortunate I am to represent our beautiful state and the independent, passionate people who call it home.
So, thank you, Oregon. Here's to more town halls full of passion and promise. Here's to the First Amendment. Here's to keeping our democracy vibrant.
