This is what I mean when I say "tax reform":
This tax giveaway to corporations is NOT going to pay for itself – you’re paying for it.
Senate Republicans voted last week to cut taxes for the rich and big corporations on the backs of the rest of America.
What they did at 2 a.m. was pass a bill that WILL increase taxes on working and middle-class Americans.
What they did at 2 a.m. was pass a bill that WILL cause working and middle-class Americans to lose health care coverage.
This “tax plan” is just a massive con job. Now it’s heading into the final stretch.
We’ve seen some Republicans waver – and this is our very last chance. Keep raising your voice: Tell your family what’s at stake, call Congress, and share this post on Facebook.
It didn't have to be this way. Middle-class families need tax reform that actually works for them. I have bipartisan proposals that we could have been working on.
As the top Democrat on the tax-writing Finance Committee, I have something very specific in mind when I say “tax reform”:
Make it easier and simpler for families to file their taxes. Today, our tax system gives advantages to those who can afford lawyers and accountants to find loopholes.
Make it easier for low- and middle-income families to save by boosting the child tax credit and the earned income tax credit.
Restore fairness by taxing income from investments, much like income from wages.
Help create jobs for the modern economy by taking away these new incentives for sending jobs overseas and encouraging investment in jobs and job training here at home.
These are good tax reforms. But that’s not what we’re getting. We have one last shot. We need to fight back, NOW. Share on Facebook today!
