I voted NO

I am honored to hold the U.S. Senate seat once occupied by the late, great Wayne Morse. Senator Morse spoke out strongly against our involvement in the war in Vietnam from the very beginning – a principled, yet unpopular position that cost him his job in the 1968 election.

Thirteen years ago this week the United States invaded Iraq. I voted against going to war in Iraq for many of the same reasons Senator Morse opposed the war in Vietnam. It’s about standing up for principle, questioning conventional wisdom, and doing what’s right -- no matter what the opinion polls say.

Defense contractors have made billions off the war in Iraq and have faced very little accountability along the way. The Pentagon has never fully accounted for what the taxpayers got out of those contracts. At the same time, these contractors can spend unlimited sums of dark money to influence the outcome of our elections.

I’m fighting for an audit of the Pentagon and an end to anonymous political spending by government contractors and I won’t let up.
