Keep up the pressure. End Social Security benefit raids.

We’re breaking through.

At last count 114,467 people had signed our petition calling on Congress to END the federal government’s practice of garnishing Social Security benefits.

Last week, the editorial board of Oregon’s Register-Guard newspaper joined our call, noting:

A coalition of labor unions, progressive organizations and congressional representatives, including Oregon Democratic Sens. Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden, is now campaigning to restore the ban on garnishing Social Security. Among other things, the group is circulating an online petition to Congress to restore the ban. What effect this petition will have is yet to be seen.

I’ll tell you what effect this petition is having -- When I talk to my colleagues about our bill it’s incredibly powerful to say that more than a hundred thousand Americans from all 50 states are demanding action with more joining every day.
