Blatant, greedy corruption while working families struggle
Trump's trade wars are already raising the prices of everyday goods and causing dangerous uncertainty among small businesses here in Oregon and all across the country.
So what does Donald Trump do?
He's not hard at work to lower costs. He's not putting pressure on companies to bring their prices down.
This weekend, he gleefully accepted a $400 million luxury plane gifted from Qatar, dubbed a "palace in the sky."
At the same time as Trump accepted his free luxury airplane from a foreign government, Republicans in Congress released their comprehensive legislation that will amount to another bailout for billionaires, paid for by ending food assistance and kicking people off of their health care.
These are the Republican Party's real priorities on full display. Trump accepts a luxury private plane while his cronies in Congress craft more tax breaks for billionaires and rip health insurance away from working families.
This is blatant, gleeful, and greedy corruption – which should be cause for immediate hearings by Congress if Republican leaders had any spine. But like usual, they're going to scurry away, dodge questions, and keep on dutifully enacting Trump's harmful agenda.
We need a Congress that's serious about ethics and oversight, and we won't get it unless we win enough seats in 2026.
Onward,
Ron
