Cracks are starting to form

On Wednesday, I forced a vote in the Senate on my bipartisan bill to roll back Trump's tariffs. It didn't pass, but several of my Republican colleagues crossed the aisle to support it.

This is further evidence that cracks are starting to form in Donald Trump's disastrous agenda. He is losing support on his trade war.

Presidents should not have the authority to radically reshape our economy without Congress weighing in.

The Senate had a choice this week: allow Trump to continue trampling over our constitutional authority, or step up and retake our power.

Unfortunately, Republicans were content to give Trump the green light to keep steamrolling Congress and the American people with his tariffs.

Let me be very clear: every single Republican that voted against my legislation is sending the clear message to their constituents – small businesses, workers, farmers, ranchers, you name it – that they support Trump's catastrophic tariffs that are leading our economy into ruin.

We learned this week that in the first quarter of 2025, the economy shrank.

Trump inherited a growing and thriving economy and a booming stock market. In just three months, he's managed to set us back years.

Americans are begging for reassurance and to be let off the financial rollercoaster that Trump's tariffs have put us on. And while my bill didn't make it past the finish line, I'm not giving up. I'll keep battling to rein in Trump's worst impulses and deliver much-needed relief to American families.

I pledge to keep working to ramp up public pressure on all fronts so we can end this harmful trade war.

More soon,

Ron
