Our original promise

Today we honor him on this national holiday, but the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is much bigger than just one day. We should take this day as an opportunity to recommit ourselves to the values that Dr. King fought for tirelessly.

When we look around at the state of our country today, it's easy to see that many of these ideas are endangered. Some are losing faith in our democracy, while others foster resentment and vitriol through spewing hateful ideologies.

It's easy to become disheartened by the scale of the challenges that we face, but we owe it to Dr. King, we owe it to ourselves, and we owe it to one another to steel ourselves and dive into this fight.

Today and every day, I am as committed as ever to realizing this country's original covenant of equal justice for all.

I'll leave you with the words of Dr. King himself:

"The moral arc of the universe is long, but it bends towards justice."

Together in hope,

Ron
