Say NO to raising the retirement age

Some politicians have bad ideas. Some have terrible ideas. Some have lousy ones, and some have ideas that are just ridiculous.

This one’s all of the above.

Governor Chris Christie recently proposed an increase in the retirement age, pushing the day when Americans can claim their Social Security benefits to 69 years old. Right away, other Republican Presidential contenders – including former Governor Jeb Bush – started jumping on board.

We’re standing up and saying “NO!” Add your signature and join the fight.

It’s hard enough for working Americans as it is. Now, the other side wants to tell workers in a steel mill, a timber yard, or a factory floor that they have to spend a few more years on their feet – whether they want to or not.

Moreover, increasing the retirement age hits low-income Americans the hardest. That’s another burden for people who worked hard and paid into the system all their life.

It’s time to put this idea back in the can. Sign our petition and help us send a message.

I’ve fought this fight for a long time, and I’m not giving up now.
